Project Brief

Próx OS

Name

Próx OS

Summary

Próx OS is a cloud-first personal intelligence OS for developers, creators, and AI-native workers.

It starts as a browser-native personal operating environment and grows toward a shell for GitHub, RSS, cloud services, AI context, web apps, future local data sources, automation, dashboards, and public Spaces.

Core Thesis

A personal website should not only present identity. It should become a personal operating environment.

The project aims to combine:

  • Personal publishing
  • Cloud-first source integration
  • Personal data ownership
  • Structured knowledge
  • Browser-native desktop UI
  • Local and cloud apps
  • AI context and permission boundaries
  • Public Spaces, templates, clone, and remix
  • AI-readable architecture
  • Future MCP exposure

App Route Groups

The OS Shell classifies app surfaces by route group:

  • /app/* for general personal work, data, and creative apps.
  • /app-user/* for profile, visitor, notifications, shortcuts, display, and other user-specific surfaces.
  • /app-shell/* as the target group for shell-coupled apps that remain inside apps/os-shell.
  • /app-dev/* for developer-only local tools, docs, project graphs, and API explorers.
  • /app-iframe/* for external and standalone iframe apps.
  • /app-os/* for reusable OS, official team, community, and platform operations apps.

These groups should stay registry-driven so desktop folders, route handling, and developer metrics can expand together.

First Milestone

Create a working cloud-first OS Shell and App Store with:

  • Top bar
  • Dock
  • Desktop surface
  • Window frame
  • Local mock apps
  • App manifest contract
  • Mature App Store / App Incubator / Space Gallery
  • Featured app direction for Awesome GitHub Radar, RSS Knowledge Inbox, GitHub Workspace, and AI Context Builder
  • Initial data model documentation

Non-goals for the First Milestone

  • No full auth system
  • No production database migration
  • No payment system
  • No community app store
  • No full MCP server
  • No complex object storage workflow
  • No full cloud drive, Notion replacement, or local archive suite before cloud-first workflows are proven

Guiding Principle

Cloud-first personal intelligence OS: GitHub-first, RSS-first, AI Context-first.
